چکیده

A firm wants to locate several multi-server facilities in a region where there is already a competitor operating. We propose a model for locating these facilities in such a way as to maximize market capture by the entering firm, when customers choose the facilities they patronize, by the travel time to the facility and the waiting time at the facility. Each customer can obtain the service or goods from several (rather than only one) facilities, according to a probabilistic distribution. We show that in these conditions, there is demand equilibrium, and we design an ad hoc heuristic to solve the problem, since finding the solution to the model involves finding the demand equilibrium given by a nonlinear equation. We show that by using our heuristic, the locations are better than those obtained by utilizing several other methods, including MAXCAP, p-median and location on the nodes with the largest demand. 2007 Elsevier B.V. Network Location Problem with Stochastic and Uniformly Distributed Demands

This paper investigates the network location problem for single-server facilities that are subject to congestion. In each network edge, customers are uniformly distributed along the edge and their requests for service are assumed to be generated according to a Poisson process. A number of facilities are to be selected from a number of candidate sites and a single server is located at each facil...

Finding the nearest facility for travel and waiting time in a transport network

One of user's queries from navigation service is to find the nearest facility in terms of time. The facility that is being questioned by the user as a destination may have a queuing service system (e.g. bank), which means that the cost function of the shortest path includes the waiting time at the destination as well as the travel time. This research conducts in the zone 1 of Mashhad with Bank ...

Solving the competitive facility location problem considering the reactions of competitor with a hybrid algorithm including Tabu Search and exact method

In this paper, a leader–follower competitive facility location problem considering the reactions of the competitors is studied. A model for locating new facilities and determining levels of quality for the facilities of the leader firm is proposed. Moreover, changes in the location and quality of existing facilities in a competitive market where a competitor offers the same goods or services ar...

Socially Optimal Location of Facilities with Fixed Servers, Stochastic Demand and Congestion

We present two capacity choice scenarios for the socially optimal location of facilities with fixed servers, stochastic demand and congestion. Walk-in health clinics, motor vehicle inspection stations, automobile emissions testing stations, and internal service systems are motivating examples of such facilities. The choice of locations for such facilities influences not only distances for users...

Sequential Competitive Facility Location Problem in a Discrete Planar Space

In this paper, there are two competitors in a planar market. The first competitor, called, the leader, opens new facilities. After that, the second competitor, the follower, reacts to the leader’s action and opens r new facilities. The leader and the follower have got some facilities in advance in this market. The optimal locations for leader and follower are chosen among predefined candida...
